Baptism Story Form

We are so happy to hear that you would like to go public with your joy in Jesus through baptism. We cannot wait to celebrate with you! After submitting your form, you will receive a confirmation email with next steps for you.
Date

1. LENGTH - Be brief. Plan for this to be around 3 minutes (200-350 words). It should fit on one page typed out. Allow this testimony to take root in you so that if God places you in a situation to give someone hope, you can do so in a timely manner. We like to think of it as your “elevator story”. It is how can you tell of the good news of Jesus before that person walks away.
2. HONESTY - Be descriptive in your struggles, not your timeline. We want to experience what God has delivered you from, but we don’t need unnecessary details of dates and historical data. Sharing from the heart (not the calendar) invites people in to a deeper connection and helps us resonate with the authentic you.
3. FOCUS - Make sure Jesus is the hero. It’s easy for us to make ourselves look really good. This moment is about Him. It’s about the work of Christ and how He has rescued you. Tell us about his wondrous works!

On the following questions, please answer each one in a few sentences:

How did you treat others? How did you view God?

Was there a significant person or series of events that opened your eyes to Him?

What has He done for you? What fears or sins has He delivered you from? How do you view people and God now?

If you were to share with someone how you spend time getting to know Jesus, what would you tell them?

BAPTISM DAY

In baptism we want to tell two stories. First, how the Lord saved you, and second, how the Lord uses people to bring us to faith. With that in mind we would love for someone who played a major role in you coming to faith in Jesus to be the person who does your baptism. If you are a child or a teenager we would really like for you to consider the role your parents played in you coming to faith in Jesus.

We will send you both some details leading up to the day of your baptism. Please let us know how we can contact them.

Baptism Process

1. Someone on staff will review your story and send it back to you as it will look printed out, so you can practice reading through it. You will have around 3-4 minutes to share your story.
2. Once your story is reviewed, your baptism day will be confirmed. This is a great moment to invite all of your friends and family to celebrate with you!
3. On the day of your baptism, you will arrive 30 minutes before service begins, change, and get ready to share your story and get baptized. If you have any questions, email awhalen@stonegate.church
